So I have a process, and plan to achieve big goals and dreams. Recently, I was in Scotland leading an amazing tour with a great group of women and all went well. Yes, some unexpected things occurred but I managed through it with ease so the attendees were not disrupted, and I want to share 5 tips when exploring new places and things.

5 Things to Remember when going on an Adventure

  1. Always have a plan and an outcome
Without a plan – you have no direction and confusion can set it. Before you set out for your adventure, plan the details, know your resources, and what is required to execute with excellence. Know your key contacts to assist you with the delivery. Have an outcome you want to achieve.
  2. One step at a time
Avoid rushing and getting ahead of yourself. When you have a plan – pay attention to each step. Skipping steps may have an adverse effect on the outcome and experience.
  3. Expect the unexpected
Even with a plan, things can arise when you don’t expect them to. It may be the weather, other individuals, breakdown of technology, injury or road blocks. The unknown may get in the way. This doesn’t mean you can’t proceed with your plan, it just mean resolutions have to be made and problems solved. Having the flexibility to maneuver through the obstacles helps. I always say “pause, think, and problem solve”.  There is always a way.
  4. Respect people’s model of the world
Everyone sees and experiences the world through their own eyes. Their perceptions of the world are how they interpret life.  When you realize this you look at things through others’ eyes and have a better understanding of them.
  5. Pay attention to your surroundings
When you are experiencing something new – stop and pay attention. So many individuals now lack focus. Many spend time with their eyes glued to their cell phones, reading texts or emails. Stop for a moment and look around, experience the moment, see the sights through your own eyes.

I hope you are planning an adventure for yourself as it’s great to get away and experience new places and people. It helps you recharge so you can come back energized to tackle all you have to do.
